Role at the church: Jim serves as Elder at Bethany and his duties include overseeing Christian education – adult, youth, and children’s; Wednesday evening Youth coordinator; treasurer.

Family: Wife – Gail, married for 16 years; children – Joshua, age 13; Paige, age 10; and James, age 8.

Hometown: New Cumberland, WV

Ministry Gifts and Strengths: Jim is team oriented; organized; sees tasks through to completion; passionate for ministry and for children and youth to form a lifelong relationsip with Jesus; high energy; loves to play sports, especially volleyball.

Educational Background: BS/BA with a major in Accounting from West Virginia University (Go Mountaineers!); CPA earned in January 1995.

Career Background: General accountant for local businesses

Hobbies: Playing sports -- volleyball, basketball, softball, ladders; swimming; love to do things outside, especially laying paver stones in my backyard; sudoku; watching shark shows; cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia Mountaineers; playing with my iPod and other gadgets; playing with my seven cats.

Since an overseer is entrusted with God's work, he must be blameless—not overbearing, not quick-tempered, not given to drunkenness, not violent, not pursuing dishonest gain. Rather he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it."
